Organization affiliation

A collaboration pathway for universities, labs, research centers, scientific communities, open-source projects, and mission-aligned organizations.

Organization affiliation helps groups participate in ORN as part of a broader open research ecosystem. It is designed for institutions and communities that want to share knowledge, increase visibility, and collaborate across domains.

Who can affiliate #

Organization affiliation is open to:

  • universities, departments, research centers, and laboratories;
  • scientific societies, working groups, and professional communities;
  • non-profits, public-interest organizations, and foundations;
  • open-source projects and research software communities;
  • companies and groups contributing to open research infrastructure.

Why affiliate #

Affiliated organizations can share initiatives, discover collaborators, host or co-organize events, connect with students and contributors, and participate in projects that align with their mission.

The goal is not to centralize control. The goal is to create a reliable network where organizations can find each other, coordinate around shared needs, and make open research more sustainable.
